“Study of the potential application of a combination of probiotics, prebiotics and postbiotics for the prevention and treatment of intestinal dysbiosis characteristic of metabolic syndrome, as well as its associated comorbidities”.

Collaborative Project:

Leader: Centro de Investigación en Nutrición, Universidad de Navarra (CIN-UNAV).

Partner: Centro Nacional de Tecnología y Seguridad Alimentaria (CNTA).

The overall objective of the project would be the identification of probiotic, prebiotic and/or postbiotic agents capable of modulating the gut microbiota and thus reversing the state of dysbiosiscaracteristic metabolic syndrome, contributing to the improvement of different parameters of these diseases.

The results obtained in this project, both in in vitro and in vivo studies, would be applied in a future human intervention study, which could lead to the development of a possible probiotic and/or nutraceutical agent with pre- or post-biotic activity for the treatment of obesity and associated metabolic diseases.

“This project has been funded by the Government of Navarra through the call for aid to Technological Centers and Research and knowledge dissemination agencies for  R&D projects 2020”
